The Extra Lesson

Movement, Drawing, and Painting Exercises to Help Children with Difficulties in Writing, Reading, and Arithmetic

The Extra Lesson, developed by Audrey McAllen out of insights into Rudolf Steiner's work, is a holistic approach to Remedial Education that serves to integrate the foundational senses and early reflex patterns essential to all higher conceptual learning in children.

Many learning difficulties stem from incomplete stages of early development in the areas of balance, touch, laterality or sidedness, dominance, eye/hand/speech coordination, or the incomplete integration of early reflexes. Extra Lessons provide movement, speech, drawing, and painting exercises that reintegrate any missed milestones, from the motor-neural pathways to the social/emotional realities within, so that the child may be freed from hindrances, and enter, with full freedom, into life.
